Report On The Plans For John Cena At Wrestlemania 35

John Cena confirmed on RAW this week that he will be participating in the Royal Rumble match. Cena said that he wants to earn a “golden ticket” to a main event match at Wrestlemania 35.

Dave Meltzer provided some interesting details about Cena in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (subscribe here).

Specifically, these details have to do with his potential match at Wrestlemania 35.

According to Meltzer, Cena was penciled in to face Lars Sullivan at Wrestlemania. Sullivan was expected to receive a massive push in WWE.

There was a wrinkle to this over the past few days though. Meltzer says that Sullivan was supposed to debut in a dark match on RAW this week. Sullivan ended up not competing due to an anxiety attack. He was also supposed to work a dark match at Smackdown but didn’t end up showing up to the arena. It is unclear right now if WWE will change direction for Cena after what happened.

If the match does happen, speculation is that it will be set-up during the Royal Rumble match.

My Take: Have to feel bad for Sullivan here. Anxiety is certainly no joke and I am surprised we don’t hear about it more from WWE Superstars. Sullivan vs Cena could be a decent match for Wrestlemania. Hopefully, he doesn’t lose his spot over it.
