Report On The Reason Why WWE Is Adding Charlotte Flair To The Wrestlemania 35 Main Event

It was announced on RAW this past week that Charlotte Flair will be taking the place of Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania 35. Charlotte will now be facing Ronda Rousey for the RAW Women’s Championship.

The obvious speculation is that this is going to eventually turn into a triple threat match at Wrestlemania 35 involving Becky, Charlotte, and Ronda.

So why did WWE add Charlotte to the match?

According to Sean Ross Sapp on his Fightful Post-Raw Podcast, he was told this week that Ronda Rousey will be leaving WWE after Wrestlemania. The best case scenario is that WWE is expecting Ronda back around Survivor Series (if she doesn’t choose to start a family).

Sapp says that WWE doesn’t want one-half of their Wrestlemania main event off television after the event is over. Adding Charlotte into the mix leaves WWE with two members of their Wrestlemania main event still on weekly television after the event is over.

My Take: If Ronda is taking time off after Wrestlemania, I think it makes sense. I see it from WWE’s point of view that they want to give both Charlotte and Becky the rub of being in the main event of Wrestlemania. That will be massive for their careers moving forward. I would personally prefer the singles match between Ronda and Becky. While saying that, I understand the argument to add Charlotte into the mix.
