Ric Flair 30 For 30 Review: 14 Things That We Learned

9) Triple H Forced Ric Into Rehab

After the death of Ric’s son: Reid, Flair admitted that his drinking got worse. He says that he would drink from 10 AM until 2AM. He would go to sleep and start it all over again.

Triple H revealed that he had to force Ric into rehab. Here is what Triple H said:

“I was really worried about him at the time. I had to literally get on the phone with him and say, ‘Shut the f*** up. You’re gonna f***ing do what I’m telling you, or I’m gonna come down there and f***ing make you do what I’m telling you. Against his will, so to speak, I forced him to go get help.”

10) Ric Admits That He Probably Should Be Dead

One of the more chilling parts of the documentary was after Flair reflected on all of the boozing and partying that he had done in his life.

Flair admitted in a chilling moment that he thinks that he should be dead by now. He revealed that he now thinks about it everyday:

“I think about that every day now, and that’s not a happy thought.”

A pretty real moment during the documentary.

11) Reid Flair Almost Worked For WWE

One of the more interesting parts of the documentary was that Reid Flair almost worked for WWE. Reid had been wrestling for a few years, working the independents and for All Japan Pro Wrestling.

Reid received a shot with WWE and was drug tested according to Triple H. Triple H had to reveal to Ric that his son had failed the drug test. Since Reid is the son of Ric, he allowed for Reid to be re-tested. This time, Reid knew that he was going to be tested a second time and failed anyways.

Ric seemed to be in denial about the whole thing according to Triple H.

12) Ric Wishes That He Was More Of A Dad To Reid, Instead Of His Best Friend

The saddest part of the entire thing was when Flair revealed that he wished that he had been more of a parent to Reid. It was revealed in the documentary that Reid and Ric had much more of a best-friend relationship rather than father-son bond.

Reid idolized his dad and tried to be just like Ric. This included drinking, partying and living life in the fast lane. This ultimately ended up costing him his life as he died from an overdose.

Flair revealed that he regrets their relationship, saying:

“I regret the fact that sometimes I was your best friend instead of your Dad.”

Heartbreaking.
