Rumor Killer On CM Punk At Wrestlemania 36

Over the past few days, a rumor has started to circulate about WWE reaching out to CM Punk for a match at Wrestlemania 36. The rumor suggested that the match would have been against Seth Rollins but Punk declined.

Mike Johnson of PWInsider has cleared up these rumors.

According to Johnson, CM Punk was NOT offered a match against Seth Rollins. He also says that there hasn’t been any communication between WWE and Punk.

Here is what he wrote:

PWInsider.com, in checking today, was told there was zero communication between WWE management and CM Punk regarding such a match or even Punk appearing at Wrestlemania in any form.    Nothing was offered.  Nothing was turned down.  The conversations never took place.

While Seth Rollins pushed for the match publicly online (and I believe may have even reached out to Punk privately about the idea), there has been no contact between Punk and WWE, according to multiple WWE sources.

Internally, there has been no talk of using Punk, not even after his WWE Backstage debut.  In recent months, WWE has not even promoted Punk’s appearances on WWE Backstage.
