Nikki Cross picked up the win against Carmella on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW. This came after Carmella had just defeated Alexa Bliss.
Later in the show, it was teased that Cross could take the place of Alexa in the Smackdown Women’s Title match at Extreme Rules. Alexa is currently scheduled to challenge Bayley at the event.
We have a rumor to pass your way about Nikki Cross’ future.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), the storyline is leading towards a feud between Cross and Bliss. The goal of this is to turn Nikki into a top babyface. Here is a quote (via Ringside News):
“The storyline is that Nikki deserves it — the whole thing is to make Nikki into a big time babyface. That’s the goal here, to feud with Alexa. Essentially, Nikki is in the role that Bayley should have been in, but they completely botched and they couldn’t go back to Bayley with it because it was just too far gone and they’ve been there too long to go back to that role. So Bayley is in new role that she graduated into and Nikki Cross is in that original role.”
My Take: As a big fan of Cross, I hope this is true. She is extremely talented and I am happy to see her get a lot of television time as of late.
