Rumor On Vince McMahon’s Reaction To Seth Rollins Acknowledging The CM Punk Chants On RAW

Seth Rollins opened RAW this week by addressing the locker room. During his promo, the Chicago crowd chanted “CM Punk” at him. Rollins responded by saying that he has tried to get Punk to come and join him in the ring but he prefers sitting behind a desk instead.

We have a rumor to pass your way about Vince McMahon’s reaction to Rollins acknowledging these chants.

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), Vince was “furious” backstage after Rollins mentioned Punk.

That is because Vince’s general rule is that you don’t push a match on television unless you are going to deliver it.

Meltzer says that there is a small chance that Vince and Seth were “working” people backstage but he thinks that it’s unlikely.

My Take: I sort of get Vince’s logic here. Don’t tease Punk vs Rollins because it is only going to get the hopes up of fans. Plus, we don’t need the CM Punk chants getting louder on a weekly basis. Still, WWE advertises live event matches all the time that never end up happening, so it seems a bit hypocritical by Vince.
