Rumor Roundup: 2 WWE Stars Ask For Their Releases, HHH’s Rejected Pitch For The Royal Rumble, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Triple H’s Rejected Pitch For The Royal Rumble

According to journalist Tom Colohue, Triple H pitched for Matt Riddle to have a moment (in the ring) with Brock Lesnar during the men’s Royal Rumble match.

This idea ended up getting rejected and Riddle was tossed out in less than a minute. Here is what Colohue said:

“I do know Triple H put Matt Riddle name’s forward as someone who should be in the Royal Rumble and he put his name forward with the intent, hope I should say, of having some kind of an encounter with Brock Lesnar. The WWE said yeah, we will have Matt Riddle, and then at some point, they said ‘okay, we’re not going to have him with Brock Lesnar’.

“It may be down to that backstage altercation. I personally find it unlikely, because the way they plan these matches out, it’s very hard to make that last-minute a change. However, if you look at the list and as you recall I have it right here, there are a number of people there who could have been moved last-minute in place of Matt Riddle. And he was only in the match for 41 seconds. It’s very hard to tell.

“When it comes to the idea of him being punished, it’s not really something that they do, when it comes to that, if he was going to be punished, they would have taken him out of the Rumble and they would have put Otis back in.”

My Take:

  • I am not buying the backstage heat rumors on Riddle either. If that was the case, they wouldn’t have even put him in the Rumble match or had him win the Dusty Rhodes classic.

4) Free Agent Expected To Sign With WWE

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Killer Kross has finalized a deal with WWE.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

It looks like the deal with Kevin Kesar, 34 (Killer Kross) is finalized since word in the indie world is he’s not taking dates after the ones over the next few weeks are finalized. He also pulled out of a mid-February Australia tour which gives the indication he’s starting very soon. The indication we were given from when he first talked with Paul Levesque about coming in is that he’d be fast-tracked, whether that means NXT television immediately or main roster, that I don’t know, but was going to be given a major push. Kross has denied ever meeting with Levesque but that’s become the common theme for wrestlers to try and indicate they aren’t going to WWE. He did essentially a farewell at the AAW show over the weekend and told MLW that after this weekend he’s not taking any new dates with them

My Take:

  • Kross is very talented and should be a strong addition to WWE. I think that NXT makes more sense for him but we will have to wait and see.
