Rumor Roundup: A Big NXT Call-Up Almost Happened, RAW Legends Night Main Event, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Original Plan For The Main Event Of RAW Legends Night

According to Mike Johnson of PWinsider, WWE originally planned for Jeff Hardy vs Randy Orton to be the main event of RAW Legends Night. This was changed after WWE made the late decision to bring in Goldberg for the final segment (after Drew McIntyre vs Keith Lee).

Here is what Johnson wrote:

The original plan for the show was for Jeff Hardy vs. Randy Orton to close Raw but the decision was made late in the day to close with Keith Lee vs. Drew McIntyre instead and do the Goldberg angle. Goldberg was very much hidden backstage until it was time for his entrance and was not listed in the script for the show.

My Take:

  • Keith vs Drew was the right call to main event. That was a really good match and it was a great way to end the night.

4) Plans Changed From RAW Legends Night

Mike Johnson of PWInsider also says Drew McIntyre was supposed to cut a promo about the legends after his match against Keith Lee. This was cut for time because the show was running long. Goldberg had to come out quickly to finish their segment.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

The original plan for the final segment called for Drew McIntyre to cut a promo about the Legends to set up Goldberg’s entrance, but with Raw running late, they cut the promo and simply had Goldberg come out much quicker. So, whatever the setup for Goldberg’s promo on McIntyre was lost due to time cuts.

After Raw went off the air, Drew McIntyre nailed Goldberg with the Glasgow Kiss and faced off with him, which apparently was the original planned ending.

My Take:

  • This makes sense. Goldberg’s promo seemed weird since Drew didn’t talk trash to any of the legends at all.
