Rumor Roundup: Austin Theory’s Current WWE Status, The Plans For After Summerslam, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Plans For After Summerslam

Two cable providers in Canada are now advertising the WWE Payback PPV for August 30th. This seemingly confirms the rumors that WWE is doing another PPV on the weekend right after Summerslam.

My Take:

  • This seems dumb. The only thing that would make sense is if they are turning Payback into part 2 of Summerslam. There is no time for them to build to this Payback show and it will seem rushed. I hope that they know what they are doing.

4) Vince McMahon Rejected A Ton Of Segments For RAW

According to a report from Ringside News, it was a rough week for the WWE writing staff. Vince McMahon reportedly approved only 4 out of a total 32 segments that were pitched to him.

Here is what the site wrote:

This has been one of the hardest weeks in recent memory for the WWE writing staff. Ringside News has learned that some have compared the workload to WrestleMania.

A writer with knowledge of the situation said that Vince McMahon’s meeting on Friday “was horrible.” It was 4 hours of McMahon hating everything for Raw. Out of 32 segments pitched to him, Mr. McMahon only approved 4 segments.

My Take:

  • I am not surprised as ratings have been slipping for a while now. Based on this and what we got on RAW, it seems like Vince McMahon is doing his best to try and fix things.
