Rumor Roundup: Backstage Disagreement Over The Wild Card Rule, Big WWE Storyline Scrapped, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Big WWE Storyline Scrapped

According to @Wrestlevotes, WWE was originally planning a major storyline over the next several months. This storyline was supposedly something big like Vince McMahon’s limo explosion and the NEXUS invasion.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this storyline has been scrapped or pushed back. Here is what the account Tweeted:

My Take:

  • With no crowd, it makes sense for WWE to go into a bit of a holding pattern right now. My guess is that the storyline was something to do with Triple H taking (kayfabe) control of WWE from Vince McMahon. I have wanted to see Triple H invade the main roster with Superstars from NXT for years.

4) WWE To Use Fake Crowd Noise In The Future?

While speaking with Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen, Joe Buck said that FOX is planning to pump in crowd noise for their upcoming NFL broadcasts. Here is what Buck said:

“It’s pretty much a done deal. I think whoever is going to be at that control is going to have to be really good at their job and be realistic with how a crowd would react depending on what just happened on the field.”

Since Smackdown is on FOX, this opens the door for WWE to potentially do the same thing. Buck didn’t mention WWE during the interview but this is definitely an idea that has been at least discussed in WWE.

My Take:

  • I do think that fake crowd noise could help for wrestling. While saying that, it could also be really distracting, so they will have to be careful if they do implement it.
