Rumor Roundup: Backstage Notes On Brock Lesnar’s Return, WWE Bringing Back Video Game? More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Backstage Note On WWE Scouting Talent

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE is no longer scouting any independent wrestlers right now. They are focusing on great athletes who they can mold into the WWE style.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Several in WWE have told us that the word from the top is no more independent talent as far as scouting and such (keep in mind no “no more” doctrine in wrestling really means that and guaranteed this will change in time) and that AEW can have all the independent talent to itself

My Take:

  • Seems like a strategy that WWE will change down the road. Seems silly to write off every independent wrestler.

4) TV Partner Upset With WWE

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, FOX was upset that WWE didn’t make CM Punk a big offer to return to the company.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

FOX was very upset that WWE didn’t make a big offer to Punk to keep him from going to AEW

My Take:

  • Even if WWE offered Punk more than AEW, I don’t think he would have taken it. I feel like it was AEW or nothing for him.
