Rumor Roundup: Backstage Notes On Recent NXT Releases, Superstar Requests Release, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Backstage Note On Malcolm Bivens’ Release

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (Subscribe here), WWE had discussed making Malcolm Bivens the manager for Omos. Bivens rejected the pitch and didn’t want to re-sign with WWE. He was released from the company this week.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

WWE had tentative main roster plans for Malcolm Bivens, and had pitched his name as a potential manager for Omos months ago, before MVP was solidified as the direction. In addition, we’re told LA Knight was considered for the spot. However, when presented a new, restructured contract, Bivens passed on it after re-signing last year. We’re told that his deal was set to expire towards the beginning of 2023. Despite the main roster pitches, Bivens was said to have no desire to re-sign.

My Take:

  • I feel like he would have done awesome as Omos’ manager. Too bad but I am sure that he will end up in AEW and doing well for himself.

4) Backstage Note On Dakota Kai’s Release

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (Subscribe here), Dakota Kai’s contract was going to expire in April 2023. She apparently told WWE that she wasn’t going to re-sign. Se was released from the company this week.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

In addition to Bivens’ deal being up in 2023, Daktoa Kai’s contract was set to expire in April of 2023, Fightful has learned. Kai got several looks on the main roster in dark matches, but those we spoke to at the time of the WWE draft said there was “no solid direction, plan, or firm ideas” for her on the main roster and had no idea if she’d even be called up. As we reported, Dakota Kai had also made it clear she didn’t plan on re-signing with WWE.

My Take:

  • I am surprised that she didn’t get a real chance on the main roster. I thought that she had a bright future in WWE.
