1) Backstage Note On Kalisto’s Release From WWE
Sean Ross Sapp also provided some additional tidbits about Kalisto’s release from WWE. Sapp says that Kalisto had expressed his desire to test free agency when his original contract expired in 2020.
Here is what Sapp wrote:
Kalisto gained significant praise for getting in better shape while he was off. Many we spoke to within WWE said that in 2019 he’d openly discussed the possibility of free agency, and his deal would have been up in the summer of 2020. However, WWE re-signed him to a new deal around January 2020, and later that year he’d expressed his desire to be a singles star.
My Take:
- My guess is that Kalisto was thinking of testing free agency before the pandemic hit and then he re-signed with WWE to give himself more security.
