3) Samoa Joe Update
Samoa Joe took a role as an enforcer for William Regal on NXT television. He also recently took a job scouting for WWE. During an interview with Helen Yee, Joe provided an update on his in-ring status.
Joe still wants to step back into the ring when he is medically cleared. This shuts down the rumors that he is retired:
“As soon as possible. You know, we still have some boxes, we still have boxes we’re checking off and getting things set up properly and making sure everybody’s okay with everything but yeah, it’s been a little bit too long. Sometimes you get the blood boiling, you start to feel it inside and you’re ready to come back.”
My Take:
- I definitely want to see several Samoa Joe matches in NXT. Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly, KUSHIDA, and Johnny Gargano all come to mind immediately.
2) Update On Mercedes Martinez
Mercedes Martinez was knocked out on the latest episode of NXT and she was taken to the hopsital. According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Mercedes suffered a concussion but she is now out of the hospital.
Here is what Meltzer said:
“Well, she’s out of the hospital, they did take her to the hospital and she did have a concussion. Look…concussions…we’re a day out. A concussion could mean she’s fine to wrestle next week or she might not be ready to wrestle for six months. You never know and you don’t know the day after so she’s fine in the sense of she’s fine, but how quick she’s going to heal, concussions are unpredictable.”
My Take:
- Never great when anyone suffers a concussion. Hopefully, it doesn’t keep her out of action for very long and she will be back to feeling 100% soon.
