Rumor Roundup: Big WWE Title Match Planned For Summerslam, WALTER’s Injury, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) WWE Re-Instates Employee Raises

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE has re-instated raises for their employees. This comes after they were frozen by the company earlier in the year.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

The major news coming out of the gathering is that the company has reinstated promotions and raises for employees after freezing them earlier this year.

We are told that the implication was that a big part of the staff would be receiving raises in the days and weeks ahead.

My Take:

  • Happy for the employees. Sucks that a lot of people had to lose their jobs before this though.

4) Backstage Note On John Cena

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, John Cena’s upcoming movie project will not affect him being at Summerslam. Cena is still expected to face Roman Reigns at the event.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Regarding Reigns vs. Cena at SummerSlam, we’ve been told that Cena’s new movie project at this point will not affect the match which is the scheduled main event of the show. James Gunn noted that filming of season one of “Peacemaker” ended this past week. It’s Cena’s first weekly TV series as an actor (not including the game show host stuff) and debuts on HBO Max in December. Cena plays the superhero character lead, described as a douchy version of Captain America. At press time the belief was that everything necessary to make the match happen has been worked out.

My Take:

  • I can’t wait to see Cena back. It has been long enough.
