Rumor Roundup: Creative Plans For Wrestlemania 36, Changed Matches, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Only Match That Didn’t Change At Wrestlemania 36

On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that Shayna Baszler vs Becky Lynch has been planned by WWE since before November. It is the only match on the Wrestlemania 36 card that hasn’t changed at some point.

Roman Reigns vs Bray Wyatt was originally the plan for Wrestlemania but WWE went in different directions for both guys. It was also noted that WWE strongly considered Aleister Black vs Brock Lesnar until they made the call for Drew McIntyre to win the Royal Rumble match.

My Take:

  • This goes to show you how much can change in WWE over a 6-month span. I was predicting Bray Wyatt vs Roman Reigns for Wrestlemania 36 since The Fiend moved to Smackdown. I am still surprised WWE didn’t go that direction.

4) Original Plans For The Smackdown Women’s Title Match At Wrestlemania 36

WWE confirmed a 6-pack challenge for the Smackdown Women’s Title at Wrestlemania 36. It will be Bayley vs Tamina vs Lacey Evans vs Sasha Banks vs Naomi vs Dana Brooke.

Alex McCarthy of talkSport first reported this match happening back in early March. According to him, Carmella was originally planned to take part but that has changed in the last few weeks:

My Take:

  • Carmella appears to have been replaced in the match by Tamina, who hasn’t wrestled on WWE television in a long time.
