Rumor Roundup: How John Cena Feels About The World Title Record, WWE Changing The Name Of Title? More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) WWE Changing The Name Of Title?

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, WWE is considering changing the name of the WWE United Kingdom Championship.

There is talk that WWE will change it to the NXT UK Championship, like the other belts in NXT UK. Here is what he wrote:

There’s been a lot of talk of late that the WWE UK Championship, currently held by WALTER, will be rechristened the NXT UK Championship to bring it in line with all the other NXT UK title belts.

My Take:

  • I would be fine with this. It does seem a little out of place when every other belt has NXT UK in front of it. I don’t really care either way though if I am being honest.

4) WWE To Sue AEW?

There is a bit of speculation floating around that WWE could potentially sue AEW over the ‘Bash At The Beach’ name.

This comes from Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio. Here is what he said (h/t to Ringside News for the quotes below):

“By the way at the end of the show, long after everything’s over they came out and they talked about Bash At The Beach and basically said — so I don’t know what’s happened — but they basically said I think we’re getting sued for calling the show Bash At The Beach. So I’m sure there’s a reason they said that. I don’t know if there were some threats or what, but they still called the show Bash At The Beach and next week is going to be Bash On The Beach, but they’re still gonna call it Bash At The Beach Week II.”

Cody Rhodes did file for the trademark in 2019. The current status on the filing is: “FINAL REFUSAL, PRIOR ISSUES NOT COMPLETELY RESOLVED”.

My Take:

  • This would be pretty petty of WWE to sue them for it. I wouldn’t put it past Vince McMahon though.
