Rumor Roundup: How Much WWE Is Paying For The ThunderDome, WWE Interested In UFC Star, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) WWE Interested In UFC Star

On the latest edition of the Sunday Night’s Main Event podcast, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE still has an interest in signing Daniel Cormier. This comes after Cormier retired from the UFC this past weekend.

It was also noted that FOX has an interest in bringing in Cormier. This would be for the SmackDown announce team. Cormier already does commentary for the UFC and would be comfortable in the role.

My Take:

  • I love Daniel Cormier and this would be a great pick-up by WWE. I think that he would fit in nicely beside Michael Cole and Corey Graves on the blue brand’s team.

4) WWE Did Not Want Dominik In A Singles Match

Dominik Mysterio will be facing off against Seth Rollins at Summerslam in a street fight. According to journalist Tom Colohue, WWE did not want to put Dominik in a singles match for his debut.

Here is what Colohue had to say:

“I really can’t see this as anything but a message from Vince McMahon to Rey Mysterio. Something like, if you’re son gets hurt that’s on you for pushing us to get him involved too early because the WWE did not want Dominik debuting in a solo match at this point, but that’s what Rey wanted, and Rey wanted to make sure they did what he wanted before he would look at signing a new contract.”

My Take:

  • I am also surprised that WWE did this. I figured that we would get Rey Mysterio and Dominik vs Seth Rollins and Murphy. That way, Rey could have done the heavy lifting in the ring. In a singles match, the focus will all be on Dominik, which is riskier. Still, I am confident that Dominik will do well.
