Rumor Roundup: Interesting Plans For Summerslam, WWE’s Reaction To AEW Touring, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Interesting Plans For Summerslam

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline, WWE is considering having Summerslam take place at Madison Square Garden.

Here is an excerpt from the site:

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, Madison Square Garden is under consideration for hosting this year’s WWE SummerSlam.

On Monday, PWInsider reported that WWE’s big summer pay-per-view is set for Sunday, August 22nd with the location yet to be finalized. Last month, Sports Illustrated reported the plan was for SummerSlam to be held in front of a live crowd.

My Take:

  • This would be interesting as many people (including myself) assumed that they would do an outdoor show for Summerslam. I figured that they would try to do a big stadium, similar to Wrestlemania, to make up for the lack of ticket sales over the past year.

4) Update On Brock Lesnar

According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Obsever Radio, there have been no whispers about a possible Brock Lesnar return to WWE.

Here is what Meltzer said:

“I have not heard [about SummerSlam] I would have thought he would be at WrestleMania, but he’s not under contract… he is not going to AEW, I mean, he’s just not. I suppose it’s possible [SummerSlam], but I have not heard any whispers in that direction.”

My Take:

  • I would love to see Brock Lesnar vs Bobby Lashley at some point. Seems like a match that needs to happen. My guess would be Wrestlemania 38 but we will have to wait and see.
