Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.
5) WWE Makes Big Money For Zombie Segment
According to Ringside News, WWE made over a million dollars for the zombie segment/match at Wrestlemania Backlash. This was in order to promote the new movie, Army of the Dead.
Here is what the site wrote:
We were told that WWE got “big money” out of the agreement which saw zombies surround the ring in that lumberjack match. In the end, WWE received “7 figures from Warner Bros.”
Dave Meltzer of F4Wonline later corroborated this report and said that it was over a million.
Ringside News reported a seven figure payday Warner Brothers to WWE for the zombies to be on WrestleMania Backlash in some form. WWE sources have confirmed Nick Khan brokered that deal for more than $1 million.
My Take:
- I know that a lot of fans complained about the zombies at Backlash. While I didn’t love it, I still really liked Backlash and it didn’t ruin the PPV for me. Hard to blame WWE after finding out that they got this nice payday for the segment.
4) Dominik Mysterio’s Future
Rey Mysterio was recently a guest on the After The Bell podcast. During this, he teased that Dominik could take over the Rey Mysterio mask at some point.
Here is what Rey said:
“That was the idea from day one that he started training: Dom will continue with this legacy and carry it on. But we never really had the opportunity to sit down and discuss our plans, which now in retrospect we can look at it and say it’s still not [too] late to make things happen like we had it planned out. So, I think Dom’s gonna have to earn the mask now, and he’s on his way. Eventually, one day, maybe the mask will be on.”
My Take:
- Dominik taking over the mask would make sense. I feel like I would prefer for Dominik to become his own version though, rather than Rey Mysterio II. That might just be me though.
