Rumor Roundup: Major Backstage Power Struggle In WWE, Notes On Triple H, More

3) Triple H Blamed For Not Winning The Wednesday Night War

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Triple H is being blamed internally for not winning the Wednesday Night War against AEW.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Paul Levesque is being blamed backstage for not winning the Wednesday night wars which WWE thought they would win easily. His detractors who fear for their position if he takes power are using the opportunity to denigrate NXT with released wrestlers being pawns in the power struggle.

My Take:

  • I don’t see how it is Triple H’s fault. NXT has been putting on some great programming. AEW has just captured the attention of lapsed fans and is putting on great programming as well. Hard to blame Triple H for another show doing well.

2) How Some Of The WWE Executives View NXT

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, some top WWE executives view NXT as a place full of indy workers, who can’t draw money.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

The backstage wrangling is what drove Kross to lose twice on Raw while being heavily protected on NXT and Aliyah to beat Dakota Kai ahead of her Takeover world title match.

NXT is being cast as a product full of independent workers who can’t draw which is unable to attract a younger audience.

My Take:

  • It does make sense as to why so many NXT releases have happened as of late.
