Rumor Roundup: Major Return Planned For Survivor Series? Samoa Joe To Return To NXT? More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Backstage Note About The Contracts Of Released Superstars

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Superstars are no longer allowed to sign autographs in their character name after they get released from WWE.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

An interesting note in WWE contracts regarding autograph signings is that talent no longer under contract is not only not allowed to do events or appearances using their WWE name, which is understandable, but they aren’t allowed to even sign using their name. For example, if somebody comes up to Braun Strowman with a photo or action figure and asks for an autograph, he can sign his real name but he can’t sign the name Braun Strowman once his 90 days are up

My Take:

  • WWE does own the character name in most situations. I guess they want to cut down on Superstars making money using their old names after they are let go.

4) Samoa Joe To Return To NXT?

According to Sean Ross Sapp on Fightful Select (subscribe here), numerous people in NXT have heard rumors about WWE being interested in possibly bringing back Samoa Joe. This would be for NXT and not the WWE main roster.

Here is what Sapp wrote in an update to this story:

“In an update on this story, officials in NXT have confirmed that Samoa Joe was briefly at the WWE Performance Center this week. We were not told why he was there. We did get confirmation there have been pitches within NXT to use Samoa Joe, however.”

My Take:

  • Joe back in NXT would be great. I would be surprised to see him return though after getting released by WWE. We will have to wait and see as I thought Joe would be AEW bound for sure.
