Rumor Roundup: The Plans For The Lashley-McIntyre Feud, NXT Stipulation Match Will Be Returning, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) NXT Stipulation Match Will Be Returning

Triple H recently took part in a call with media members. During this, he spoke about the ‘Fight Pit’ match between Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher.

Triple H said that the ‘Fight Pit’ is going to become a signature match in NXT. Here is what he said (via Fightful).

“The Fight Pit came about organically. The right performers were there with Matt Riddle and Timothy Thatcher, two talents that bring a different style, a more ground-based, grappling style. Riddle can do just about anything and Thatcher is such a good technically grappling wrestler and so gritty and tough. That type of environment seemed like the right environment for them. We based it off some things from the past, some things we wanted to see, and put it all together. It really captivated people and the match delivered, which is always the key. People were intrigued by it and it will become a signature match for NXT. The Fight Pit can be the go-to grudge match or something like that. You’ll definitely see more of them in the future. I was thrilled with that one and I think fans enjoyed it. I look forward to doing more with it.”

My Take:

  • I liked the Fight Pit and I am happy that WWE is going to be bringing it back. Let’s hope they don’t overuse it though.

4) More On The Decision To Re-Hire Drake Maverick

According to Bryan Alvarez on Wrestling Observer Live, it was Vince McMahon (and not Triple H) who made the final decision to re-hire Drake Maverick.

Here is what Alvarez said:

One thing I want to make abundantly clear is that Triple H has no authority to hire or fire anybody, okay. So, anybody who got fired, every one of them, was a Vince McMahon call. And I’m pretty confident, because I’ve been told this from people, that people who released if Hunter had his way, they would not have been released, and so, they fired all these people and Drake had the deal, and this means by the day, that Vince must have seen his promo that went viral, ‘Look at this guy pal, hire him back.’ Everything was a Vince call. Firing Drake and rehiring Drake.

My Take:

  • I am just happy that Drake is back with WWE. I am also excited to see him as more of an in-ring talent in NXT, instead of just a manager.
