5) WWE’s Reaction To All Of The Recent Allegations
According to Mike Johnson of PWinsider, WWE is seriously looking into all of the recent allegations against their Superstars. This comes after multiple sexual assault allegations came to light about wrestlers all over the world.
Johnson says that these allegations are not being ignored by WWE. Here is what he wrote:
I can tell you that even if nothing has (or will be) publicly disclosed, WWE is taking the allegations that have come out in recent weeks against different talents very, very seriously and are looking into all of them. The company isn’t going to comment on anything or even take action until they have gone through their process, nor should they, or any other company that is dealing with similar circumstances. I can assure you nothing has been ignored.
My Take:
- This is good to hear as it is a very serious topic. WWE has already released a handful of Superstars over it, which is showing that they are taking it seriously. It will be interesting to see if more names get let go in the upcoming weeks as the company continues to investigate.
4) Why Matt Riddle Is Still Appearing On Smackdown
Many fans are wondering why Matt Riddle is still appearing on Smackdown. This comes after his name has been brought up in the recent sexual assault allegations.
According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE has known about these allegations for over a year and they have already investigated the claim. Here is what he wrote:
Matt Riddle has an accusation of a sexual assault against him by female wrestler Candy Cartwright from May 2018 several years back in Evolve in a van that a group traveled together in where other people were there but the claim is they were asleep when this happened. The accusation surfaced publicly on 6/19, the day the A.J. Styles vs. Riddle match was to air. WWE aired the match with Riddle winning a non-title match in his Smackdown debut. We’ve been told WWE has been aware of the claim by Cartwright for more than a year and investigated it.
My Take:
- This will be one of those topics that we will come back to in a few weeks to see if anything has changed. As of right now, this is the reason why Riddle is still on television.
