Rumor Roundup: Why Goldberg vs Drew McIntyre Is Happening, Original Plans For Hulk On RAW, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) The Original Plan For Hulk Hogan On RAW

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, the original plan was for Hulk Hogan to open RAW with an in-ring promo. This ended up changing to a backstage segment with Hogan instead.

Here is what Johnson wrote:

The original plan for Raw Legends night was to open with Hulk Hogan in the ring cutting a promo. The decision was made to instead have him do the cold open backstage. Hogan and Ric Flair sat in on the production meeting prior to Raw.

My Take:

  • An in-ring promo would have been much better. The ‘H’ phone segment that opened the show was just weird.

4) WWE Interested In Top Free Agent

It was announced this week that Marty Scurll has parted ways with Ring of Honor. On Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that WWE is “very interested” in signing Scurll.

Meltzer also noted that WWE doesn’t view the accusations against Marty Scurll that came out several months ago as a reason not to sign him. This is because there were no criminal charges filed against him.

My Take:

  • I feel like WWE needs to avoid signing anyone that has any controversy tied to them.
