Rumor Roundup: WWE’s Back-Up Plan In Case Of A Shut Down, Kofi Kingston’s Absence, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Why Kofi Kingston Is Off WWE TV

According to journalist Tom Colohue, Kofi Kingston is not actually injured. Instead, Kofi is taking some time off right now to be with his family.

Here is what Colohue said about the situation:

Kofi is absolutely fine. He has just been given six weeks off to take a quarantine period, go and see his family, take a quarantine period and then come back to work.

The WWE have mentioned to every member and talent they have in that locker room. They ave said to them, ‘if you want to opt-out of working, if you want to go and spend some time with your family, just tell us.’ That’s where Daniel Bryan is at the moment, that’s where Kevin Owens was for a couple of weeks. If you want to spend some time away, come to us, we will find a way to write you out, all you have ask you is to give us the time to do that in a way that it makes logical sense. That is what happened with Kofi, and I’m sure he’ll be very happy to be Big E’s buddy and be in Big E’s corner cheering him on when he does return.

My Take:

  • This seems to be a win-win situation. Kofi gets to take some time off and be with his family. Big E also gets a chance to shine as a singles guy. It seems like a good situation for everyone.

4) Rey Mysterio’s Current Status

According to Dave Meltzer in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rey Mysterio and WWE have still not come to terms on a new contract.

Here is what Meltzer wrote:

As of early in the week, Rey Mysterio and Vince McMahon were still in negotiations for terms of a prospective new deal

My Take:

  • I am sure that WWE and Rey will eventually figure it out. I don’t see him wanting to leave since Dominik is likely under a WWE deal for a few years. This sounds like a money thing that they will eventually work out.
