Rumor Roundup: WWE’s Condition To Grant The Revival Their Releases, Title Match Planned At MITB, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) How Triple H Viewed Curtis Axel As A Talent

Curtis Axel was released by WWE on Thursday. According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Triple H was very keen on Axel in his early WWE career.

Meltzer says that Triple H thought Axel was going to be one of the “flagship stars” of WWE when he first came onto the scene. Here is what he wrote:

He was pushed as one of the top stars in developmental. At the same they liked his athletic ability and that he was tall. He was brought to the main roster and expected to be a star. Paul Levesque in particular thought he was going to be one of the flagship stars of the company. His first run as Michael McGillicutty went nowhere.

My Take:

  • Based on Axel’s gimmicks over the past few years, it is clear that WWE brass soured on him. I always liked him but I wouldn’t say that I thought he would be a big star for the company.

4) Title Match Originally Planned For Money In The Bank

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Street Profits vs The Viking Raiders was originally planned for the Money in the Bank PPV.

WWE has decided to now do the match on RAW this upcoming week instead. It is unclear why this change was made.

My Take:

  • I still think that The Street Profits vs The Viking Raiders will happen at Money in the Bank. My guess is that we get a screwy finish on RAW, which sets up the rematch between them at the PPV.
