Rumor Roundup: WWE’s Mentality About The Recent Releases, Storyline Plans Dropped? More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) More On The Recent WWE Releases

Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful has provided some more details on the thinking behind the recent WWE releases. He says that several of the released Superstars had asked for their releases (in the past) or had expressed unhappiness with their creative in the company.

Here is what Sapp wrote:

– Several of the names released had actually asked for their release prior to the Coronavirus pandemic, but were rejected. Many others had expressed their dissatisfaction with the company creatively.

– We were told that the primary line of thinking in releasing NXT talent were people who had expressed their dissatisfaction creatively, or had long tenures there without plans.

My Take:

  • This makes sense. WWE is trying to shed salary so they release the names who have complained or asked for their releases. Taynara Conti from NXT is a prime example. She reportedly asked for her release a few months ago and I wasn’t surprised to see her included in the recent cuts. I am also sure that not every released Superstar had previously complained but I am sure that it makes up a decent percentage.

4) Storyline Plans Dropped?

According to Wrestling INC, WWE has dropped its plans to split up Bobby Lashley and Lana as a pairing.

The company had been teasing tension between them for the past few weeks but it looks like they have changed their minds and are keeping them together.

My Take:

  • Personally, I hope that they split up. I think that Lashley needs to be on his own because the pairing has not made me want to invest in him or his character.
