Rumor Roundup: WWE’s Plans For The Top Feuds On RAW, Backstage Feeling About Edge’s Return, More

Here are some of the latest WWE rumors that are floating around.

5) Ric Flair’s WWE Contract Status

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Ric Flair’s (legends) contract with WWE expires at the end of 2019.

Meltzer says that he expects WWE to make a big offer to avoid Flair joining AEW. Here is what he wrote:

There were stories that Ric Flair signed a new deal, pointing to his pulling his merch from Pro Wrestling Tees after 1/13, but that’s not the case. It was his own team’s move regarding other businesses making offers to be able to carry Ric Flair merch. Flair’s WWE deal expires right around the end of the year. He is friends with Tony Khan, to the degree that Khan was an invited guest to his wedding. I would expect WWE to make a good offer to keep him given they wouldn’t want him on the AEW television show

My Take:

  • Flair is probably trying to get the most money possible out of WWE for his next contract. Flair would be a big get for AEW as a potential character on their television show. I wouldn’t be surprised to see AEW give him a nice offer as well.

4) Why WWE Didn’t Stop The TLC Main Event

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Kairi Sane told doctors that she was fine during the main event of TLC, where she was injured.

That appears to be the reason why the match wasn’t stopped:

From what we understand, there were people backstage who knew something was wrong, and at least twice the referees talked to Sane and both times she said she was fine.

My Take:

  • I would have liked to see a doctor come down and check on Sane. They could have turned it into a handicap match and pulled Kairi out for her safety. It would have killed the match but safety is the most important thing.
