Samoa Joe Injury Update After His Nasty Fall On RAW

Samoa Joe and Kevin Owens faced off against Buddy Murphy and Seth Rollins on RAW this week. This was for the RAW Tag Team Championships. Joe ended up getting pulled from the match after he landed funny during his suicide dive attempt.

Joe didn’t end up coming back, which forced Owens to face Rollins and Murphy in a handicap match. Rollins and Murphy were able to defeat Owens to retain their Titles.

After the match, many fans have been wondering if this was a worked injury or not. We have an update to pass your way on Joe.

According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, Joe was really hurt and this wasn’t a work. The rest of the guys called the match on the fly due to Joe leaving. Here is what Johnson wrote:

Samoa Joe was pulled from his tag team bout with Kevin Owens against Seth Rollins and Buddy Murphy on Monday Night Raw after coming down hard while performing a dive and coming down at a harsh angle, at which point he grabbed the back of his head and didn’t immediately get up.

The decision to remove Joe from the match was made by WWE medical personnel and was 100% legitimate, not something that was booked as part of the match.  Everyone involved was pretty much calling the remainder of the bout on the fly.

Joe is currently being examined backstage to diagnose any potential injuries.

UPDATE: According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio, the belief is that Joe suffered a concussion. Here is what Meltzer said (h/t to Ringside News for the quote below):

“The belief is that Joe has a concussion which is obviously not a good thing. That’s not 100%, but that was the belief a couple of hours ago. A concussion is the kind of unpredictable injury where you know he could be back next Monday or he could be back in six months you just don’t know. So, yeah that’s the situation he landed on his head and got a concussion.”

We will let you know if we hear anything more about Joe.
