Simon Gotch was released by the WWE a few weeks ago. When wrestlers sign with the WWE, it is usual for them to be given a completely new name (unless you have a ton of name value already like a Shinsuke Nakamura). A name change was the case for Gotch when he signed in 2013.

WWE does this because they want to own the name of the character that they are creating. When you leave the company, you are forced to change your name if you want to work for other promotions.
According to Gotch’s social media accounts, he is now going by the name: Simon Grimm. He even has a few T-Shirts available with his new name. He will be wrestling as Simon Grimm on the independent scene moving forward.
