WWE has officially confirmed that Asuka vs Sasha Banks will be happening on the July 27th episode of Monday Night RAW. This will be for the RAW Women’s Championship. Stephanie McMahon confirmed that if Sasha is counted out, disqualified, or if Bayley gets involved in any way, the title goes back to Asuka. I wanted to share my speculation on what I think will happen during this match.
To start, I want to say that this will likely be a really good match. I really enjoyed their match at Extreme Rules (other than the screwy finish) and I am sure that this one will be really good as well. I would put them in the main event spot and give them tons of time to work. My guess is that it will be a lot of fun.
As for the match, I think that we are going to see Bayley accidentally cost Sasha the match. The stipulation is set up so that if Bayley interferes in any way, Sasha loses the belt. That seems to me like a big hint that Bayley is going to be involved in the finish in some form. WWE could do something where Bayley is really trying to help Sasha but it backfires and she loses.
This will plant some seeds between Sasha and Bayley for their inevitable split. It seems clear that we are eventually going to get a match between them and this seems like the perfect place to start building some tension.
I don’t have Sasha vs Bayley happening at Summerslam though. In my Summerslam predictions, I have Sasha and Bayley losing their tag team titles at the event. This will be another way that they will drift apart as a team. I think that WWE is going to slow-play this, so I would be surprised if we get Sasha vs Bayley right away.
