Kevin Owens cut a promo on Smackdown this week that generated a lot of praise from fans. Owens criticized the McMahon Family for not fulfilling their promises to fans. He also complained about Shane McMahon getting more television time than other talented people on the roster.
I wanted to pass along my speculation on what I think that this storyline is leading to.
After the segment, several WWE stars took to social media to praise Owens. That included Buddy Murphy, Ali, and Liv Morgan. What do they all have in common? They are all not currently being used on Smackdown and Owens also name-dropped each of them in his promo.
I have a feeling that WWE is heading towards a storyline where some of the underutilized stars of Smackdown revolt against Shane. This revolt would be led by Kevin Owens.
My gut says that WWE has realized the fan complaints about Shane taking up too much screen time. As a result, it would make sense for them to use that to their advantage and turn it into a storyline.
WWE could slowly have Superstars stop listening to Shane. Eventually, we could see Drew McIntyre and Elias turn their backs on Shane as well. In the end, the roster would team up to attack Shane, writing him off television for a while.
I think that is where we are heading based on Owens bringing up Shane hogging television time. To me, it doesn’t make sense to bring it up unless they are planning to do something about it.
