Nikki Cross was announced as one of the 6 names who was recently called up from NXT to the WWE main roster.
It looked like Nikki was going to get called up several months prior to this. There were some rumors that she would join SANITY after she faced Shayna Baszler at NXT Takeover: Chicago II. This never happened. It also felt like she might be staying with the main roster after she accepted Becky Lynch’s open challenge on Smackdown several weeks ago. This also didn’t happen.
So what does the future now have in store for Nikki? Let’s speculate a little bit.
To start, I do think that WWE is going to pair her back up with SANITY. I think that we received a big hint for this when SANITY walked Nikki out prior to her match against Becky. This felt to me like WWE establishing to main roster fans that Nikki is a part of the group. Nikki to SANITY and Smackdown seems like a lock to me.
That would be a major boost for SANITY, who have been struggling for TV time since being called up. I am expecting their fate to turn around in 2019 with Nikki by their side. Triple H is the person who came up with the idea for the faction, so I don’t think the group will continue to get buried.
As for the long-term plans, my guess is that Nikki will remain as a valuable worker in the Women’s division for many years to come. I am doubtful that she will be pushed to the top right away but she could get there eventually if things fall into place. Her wrestling and character work are great, so I expect her to do very well for herself (with or without SANITY).
