Shane McMahon announced last week that he would be the special guest referee for the tag team match at Clash of Champions: Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn vs Shinsuke Nakamura & Randy Orton. If Owens & Zayn lose, they are fired from WWE. On Smackdown Live this week, Daniel Bryan named himself as the 2nd referee for the match, making things very interesting.
Let’s speculate on what will happen on Sunday. Here are some potential scenarios that we see happening.
Scenario 1) Shane McMahon gets inadvertently knocked out near the end of the match. This leaves only Daniel as the remaining referee to count the pin. Daniel ends up counting the 3 in favor of Sami and Kevin, giving them the win and allowing them to keep their jobs. Bryan doesn’t side with Sami and Kevin, he is strictly doing his job and calling the match down the middle like he promised that he would. This would increase the tension between Shane & Daniel because Shane wanted Owens & Zayn gone from the company. Essentially, this scenario keeps the tension going between Shane and Daniel for the next several weeks, without anything major happening.
Scenario 2) Daniel sides with Owens & Zayn. There has been tension teased for the past several weeks between Shane and Daniel. Daniel has clearly not been happy with some of the decisions from Shane. In this scenario, Daniel would make sure that Owens & Zayn win the match and keep their jobs. Bryan joins Owens & Zayn, who also want Shane gone from Smackdown Live. Daniel potentially turning on Shane is a popular theory among fans on social media. This would form an Owens, Zayn and Bryan faction moving forward.

Scenario 3) Shane and Daniel get into a major argument during the match. Shane doesn’t see something, like a foot on the rope and counts the pinfall. Daniel waves it off, which leads to a pissed off Shane. This would also lead to Owens & Zayn winning fair. This would keep the storyline going with Shane being overcome with anger towards Kevin and Sami. Also, it would continue the storyline of Daniel trying to keep things fair. The tension would continue between Daniel and Shane over the next several weeks. Like scenario 1, this would be another layer to their tension.
Scenario 4) Daniel Bryan takes a bump during the match and we all lose our minds. This would be a telling sign that he will be coming back to wrestle again for WWE. Seems highly unlikely, but we had to include it anyways.
