Storyline Speculation: Where The Daniel Bryan-Shane McMahon Storyline Is Going

Storyline Speculation By IWNerd

On Smackdown Live this week, a big match was announced for the upcoming Clash of Champions Pay-Per-View. Shane McMahon announced that Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn will be facing off against Randy Orton & Shinsuke Nakamura. Shane McMahon announced that he will be the special guest referee for the match. Also, if Owens & Zayn don’t win, they are fired from WWE (not just Smackdown Live).

Let’s speculate on how this will go at Clash of Champions!

There has been tension teased between Daniel Bryan & Shane McMahon for the past several weeks on Smackdown Live. At the end of this weeks episode, Daniel thought that Owens & Zayn had been punished enough and gave Shane an interesting look. This certainly seemed to tease that Bryan could end up getting involved in the tag team match in some way to help Sami & Owens keep their jobs.

Why it makes sense for Daniel to help Owens & Zayn keep their jobs:

1) There has been tension between Shane & Daniel stemming back from the ‘Under Siege’ attack where Shane didn’t inform Daniel about his plans. This would be a payoff to the tension that they have been building over the past several weeks.

2) Who are the heels in this storyline? It certainly seems like WWE is setting up Shane to look like a bit of a tyrant in this storyline & someone who can’t let go of a grudge. It also seems like an incredibly dumb idea for WWE to try to turn Daniel Bryan heel. There is just no chance that WWE fans will boo him. Instead, Shane is acting a bit more heelish lately so the lines are blurred between right and wrong (and fans don’t have to necessarily boo Daniel if he does side with Owens & Zayn since Shane has been a bit out of line).

3) Is WWE really going to (storyline) fire Sami Zayn & Kevin Owens? Would make no sense to write them off television right now for a few months due to a firing. They are a part of the top storyline on Smackdown Live and it would be a big surprise if they just lose cleanly to Nakamura & Orton. As a result, something is going to have to happen here, which is why we think that Daniel will play some sort of role.

4) It was revealed a few weeks ago that Daniel Bryan was responsible for the Riott Squad getting called up to the WWE main roster. Maybe this was a hint that Daniel is slowly starting to take over Smackdown Live?
