Summerslam 2017 Matches And Predictions
This years Summerslam takes place on August 20th, 2017. It will be held in the Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn for the third straight year. Summerslam is typically the second biggest show of the year on the WWE schedule and the company usually delivers! This page will be your Summerslam 2017 matches information hub!
Here are some the Summerslam 2017 matches and our predictions:
Neville vs. Akira Tozawa – WWE Cruiserweight Title
I don’t think there is much question here that Tozawa will retain. Would be an odd decision to take the title away from him already. Prediction – Tozawa retains.
The Usos vs. The New Day – SmackDown Tag Team Titles
These two teams had a fantastic match at Battleground and hopefully can do it again on Sunday. I think the New Day will be winning here and keeping the titles for a little while. Prediction – The New Day retains.
Big Cass vs. Big Show – Enzo Amore will be in a shark cage)
Hoping for the best in this one. Logic would dictate that WWE is using Big Show as a stepping stone for Big Cass here. Think Enzo will inadvertently do something to help Cass win. Maybe drop down a weapon that was intended for the Big Show. Regardless, Iwould be SHOCKED if Cass isn’t the winner. Prediction – Big Cass wins.
(Demon) Finn Balor vs. Bray Wyatt – Singles Match
Balor will be using his ‘Demon’ persona for this match. Would find it very strange to see Bray Wyatt defeat Balor here. Does WWE really want to kill the credibility of the ‘Demon’ character by having him lose? We hope not. Prediction – Balor wins.
Rusev vs. Randy Orton – Singles Match
An interesting match for sure. Both guys could really use the win. Orton is coming off 3 Pay-Per-View losses and recently beat Jinder on an episode of Smackdown. A win here for Rusev could also go a long way in building him back up as a top heel on Smackdown Live. I think after what happened with Orton and Jinder over the past few months, WWE is going to have Orton win here and maybe move on to the U.S Title next. Prediction – Orton wins.
John Cena vs. Baron Corbin – Singles Match
This one has become very interesting with Corbin losing his Money in the Bank contract. Many fans assume that WWE has buried Corbin with his cash-in fail but we don’t. We expect an infuriated Corbin to take out Cena here and pick up a big win. Cena is moving to RAW and really doesn’t need the win. If Corbin loses at Summerslam, we can put some stock into the theory that WWE has given up on him. Prediction – Corbin wins.
Natalya vs. Naomi – SmackDown Women’s Title
Many fans are assuming a cash-in will happen here from Carmella. I don’t think we will see this. I have a feeling that WWE will wait until Becky Lynch or Charlotte win the title for Carmella to cash in. We expect Naomi to retain here. Prediction – Naomi retains.
Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss – RAW Women’s Title
If Bayley was in the spot of Sasha, I would have told you that we are about to see a title change. In this case, I am not really sure anymore. I am going to predict that Alexa retains the title via disqualification after Asuka lays out both challengers in her main roster debut. Prediction – Alexa Bliss retains.
Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles – WWE United States Title – Special Referee: Shane McMahon
I have been a bit disappointed by their matches so far against one another. Hopefully with the added element of Shane as the referee we see a classic match. Both guys certainly have the talent! I predict AJ will retain and Shane will somehow cause Owens to lose. Tension will continue for a future Owens vs Shane match. Prediction – Styles retains.
Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins vs. Cesaro and Sheamus – RAW Tag Team Titles
This is my pick that I am almost 99% on. Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins wins the RAW Tag Team Titles. Keep their incredible storyline going with one another and freshen things up in the tag team division. Predictions – Ambrose and Rollins win the titles.
5 Bold Summerslam Predictions
Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Jinder Mahal – WWE Title
With Baron Corbin not having the contract anymore, this gives me a lot of hope that Nakamura could be walking out of Summerslam with the title. I think the Jinder experiment is over and Nakamura takes the title here. Prediction – Nakamura wins the title.
Roman Reigns vs. Samoa Joe vs. Braun Strowman vs. Brock Lesnar – WWE Universal Title
I think the Brock leaves if he loses stipulation was only done to add speculation to the match. I think Lesnar is going to retain the title and will hold it until Wrestlemania. Prediction – Brock retains.
