This week’s episode of Smackdown Live ended with Erick Rowan standing tall. He attacked not only Roman Reigns but also Daniel Bryan.
I wanted to pass along my theory about where I think this storyline is heading.
My guess is that on Smackdown, Daniel Bryan is going to be involved in a segment with Roman Reigns. Bryan will say that he told him that he wasn’t involved in the original attack. Roman will apologize to Bryan for blaming him and also for spearing him. This will help set up a swerve at Clash of Champions.
The swerve will be that Bryan was the mastermind behind the attack on Reigns from the very beginning. Bryan told Rowan to attack him on Smackdown in order to make Reigns think that he was innocent. At Clash of Champions, Bryan will either help Rowan beat Reigns or Bryan will just attack him after the match.
On the Smackdown after Clash of Champions, Bryan will air some new video footage from the original attack on Reigns. This footage will show that not only was Rowan involved but so was Bryan. The idea here is to push Bryan’s character as a complete psychopath, who planned this all from the beginning. That includes getting beaten up by Rowan in order to get Reigns off his trail.
In my opinion, there is too much money to be made in a heel Daniel Bryan vs Roman Reigns feud. There has to be some sort of swerve here so we get to see these two face off. My guess is that WWE is just giving fans a red herring here and Bryan will eventually be revealed as the guy behind it all.
