Update On RAW On Christmas And New Years Day

There are some big-time Holidays that land on Monday’s this year. Christmas day (December 25th) falls on a Monday this year and so does New Years day (January 1st, 2018).  Obviously WWE broadcasts RAW every Monday so that puts the company in an interesting position.

There was some initial thought that WWE would run a taped show for either of these days due to low ratings. It turns out that this won’t be the case.

WWE announced that they will be broadcasting LIVE on both Christmas and New Years day. Here is the article from WWE.com:

“Prepare to celebrate the holidays with WWE this year as Raw broadcasts LIVE on Christmas night, Dec. 25, and New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.

This marks the first time that WWE will present Monday night’s hottest show live on the Christmas and New Year’s holidays. These unprecedented broadcasts aim to best serve you, the WWE Universe, during the holiday season.

Deck the halls and ring in the New Year with Monday Night Raw, live on Dec. 25 and Jan. 1 on USA Network”

Certainly an interesting decision by WWE. We will have to see how the ratings do on both nights. Many families are busy on both days. A bit of a bummer for the talent too that want to be with their families.

  1. I guess people forget back before Monday Night Raw

and back in the Territory Days All Wrestling promotions ran on Christmas and New years. especially i remember WCCW Christmas Star Wars Shows

and lets not forget we also have 5 NBA Games and 2 NFL Games (If it falls on Sunday or Monday) on Christmas every Year

    • WWE Superstars are paid a fraction of what NFL players receive and the NFL players enjoy an off season. This comparison is flawed.

    • NBA and NFL also have off seasons and only play one game a week. WWE’s been doing pre-recorded shows for Christmas for years so people being frustrated by the decision to do a live RAW is quite understandable.
