Shawn Michaels has been adamant over the past few years that he is NOT going to be returning to the wrestling ring as a performer.

If he was going to, the 2017 Royal Rumble would have been the perfect place for him, considering that it was in his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. HBK did not wrestle and he stayed true to his words that he is remaining retired from the ring.
That doesn’t mean Shawn Michaels won’t appear in some capacity at Wrestlemania 33. Michaels is arguably the best wrestler in WWE history and is one of the most popular of all-time. He receives a big ovation anytime he returns to the company.
The last time Wrestlemania was hosted in Orlando, was back in 2008. This was the place where Shawn ended the legendary career of Ric Flair. The moment has become famous, HBK mouthed “I’m Sorry, I Love You” before hitting the Nature Boy with ‘Sweet Chin Music’.
It would be a shock to me if WWE doesn’t reference this in some way. Maybe a backstage segment involving Ric Flair and Shawn, reminiscing about their match.
Regardless, I expect Shawn to be involved in some capacity at the show.
