WWE Battleground 2016 Predictions

WWE Battleground 2016 is this Sunday from the Verizon Center in Washington, DC. The card is headlined by a Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship between former Shield members: Dean Ambrose, Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins. The biggest storyline heading into the event is this will be Roman Reigns’ first TV appearance since his WWE suspension. Below is our WWE Battleground 2016 Predictions! Here is our WWE Battleground 2016 Predictions:

Becky Lynch vs. Natalya

• Looking at the Smackdown women’s roster, Becky really has a chance to be the top female face of the brand. I think she defeats Natalya and becomes the female face of Smackdown. Nattie also was drafted to Smackdown (and I’m a fan of hers) but I think Becky has much more star potential and needs the win. Pick: Becky Lynch. 

Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens .

• I was very surprised that these two were drafted to the same brand. Regardless these two are going to fight forever (and I’m perfectly okay with it). It could go either way. I am taking Kevin Owens as I think RAW is going to use him as one of their top heels moving forward. Pick: Kevin Owens.

The New Day (Big E, Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods) vs. The Wyatt Family (Bray Wyatt, Erick Rowan and Braun Strowman)

• With the titles not on the line, I fully expect the WWE to have Bray Wyatt get a big win here. Bray is going to be needed as a top heel on Smackdown and taking down the New Day would be a great start. No real reason why the New Day should win here. Pick: The Wyatt Family. 

Rusev (c) (with Lana) vs. Zack Ryder – For the WWE United States Championship.

• With Rusev being on RAW and Ryder being on Smackdown, this makes this one easy (to me at least). Rusev retains and keeps the belt on RAW. Pick; Rusev.

The Miz (c) (with Maryse) vs. Darren Young (with Bob Backlund) – For the WWE Intercontinental Championship.

• Same thing for the Miz and his belt. He is on Smackdown and will likely keep the belt since Darren Young was drafted to RAW. I think Darren Young will look good in this one but in a losing effort. I expect the Miz to cheat to win here. Pick: The Miz.

Sasha Banks and TBA vs. Charlotte and Dana Brooke – Tag team match.

• I would love for her mystery opponent to be BAYLEY. Would be the perfect way (in my opinion) to bring her up to the main roster after not getting drafted this past week. Smart money is also on Nia Jax on being her partner since she just got drafted to RAW. It could be a way for her to make an early impact. Regardless I think Sasha and her mystery partner will get the win and keep the feud going until Summerslam where we will finally see Sasha vs Charlotte for the title. Pick: Sasha and mystery opponent. 

John Cena, Enzo Amore and Big Cass vs. The Club (AJ Styles, Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows).

• This should be a good match. Since AJ Styles won at Money In The Bank I expect Cena along with Enzo and Cass to get the win. This will set up AJ vs Cena at Summerslam! It also might set up Enzo and Cass vs Karl Anderson and Luke Gallows as both teams are now on RAW. Pick: Cena, Enzo and Cass.

Dean Ambrose (c) vs. Roman Reigns vs. Seth Rollins –  Triple threat match for the WWE Championship.

• This should be a fun one. A Shield Triple Threat!!!! I am a bit disappointed about Reigns being suspended because I was looking forward to seeing the three of them build this match up for a couple weeks. Regardless it should still be a good one. I am completely writing Reigns off as a potential winner here as a punishment to his recent suspension. So that leaves either Ambrose or Rollins. Ambrose just defeated Rollins clean this past week on Smackdown. To me, they did that to make Ambrose look really strong before losing his belt back to Rollins on Sunday. Ambrose will be awarded the newly created Smackdown exclusive world title in the next couple weeks. Pick: Seth Rollins.
