If you are a WWE fan you know that a hot topic of conversation has been the female talent of WWE not participating in the Greatest Royal Rumble event in Saudi Arabia. Some fans find it hypocritical since WWE is in the midst of really pushing their female performers.

WWE Co-President Michelle Wilson was asked about the topic on WWE’s recent earnings call for the first quarter of 2018. She was asked about WWE leading the charge with their Women’s evolution but choosing to do business with a place like Saudi Arabia.
Here is a recap of Wilson’s response (h/t to PWInsider):
“Michelle Wilson said, “We are respectful of the culture there but we also hope to be part of the change there.” She said they are proud of their female performers and have rebranded them as female superstars. They believe in them, but in certain countries they have to respect the culture. They pointed out the Sasha Banks vs. Alexa Bliss match in U.A.E [United Arab Emirates]. They have to be respectful of the cultures they go to, but noted there are male and females fans there and they want to appeal to everyone. They have a ten year relationship and they are hopeful of being part of the social changes that can take place in the years to come and they look forward to that”
