WWE Files For Two Interesting Trademarks

WWE has filed for two old trademarks. The first trademark filed by WWE is for ‘Starrcade’. This was a very popular event for both the National Wrestling Alliance and World Championship Wrestling back in the day. WWE brought the name back last year but only for a live event. There were some rumors a few weeks ago that WWE could use the name for an upcoming PPV event.

Here is what the filing says it is for:

“Entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events; providing wrestling news and wrestling information via the Internet, a global computer network or a mobile app; providing sports entertainment information regarding ongoing programming via the Internet, a global computer network or a mobile app; entertainment services, namely, a production and distribution of programming featuring wrestling rendered…”

WWE has also filed for the trademark for ‘CG’. This is for:

“Clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands; bandanas”

The ‘CG’ logo that is listed is the same logo as John Cena’s ‘Chain Gang’ from his early career in WWE. Looks like he could be bringing back that merchandise (or maybe even the character?). We will have to wait and see.

WWE is also rumored to have some interest in a top Independent star. You can read more about that here.
