WWE Issues Statement On The Reports That Smackdown In Detroit Is Being Cancelled

It was reported late on Wednesday night that WWE is moving Smackdown in Detroit to the WWE Performance Center in Orlando. This is due to the coronavirus outbreak that is currently dominating headlines around the world.

WWE has now issued a statement to Mike Johnson of PWInsider on these reports. The company is denying that the show has been cancelled in Detroit. Here is what they issued:

“WWE has not cancelled Friday Night SmackDown in Detroit, however, based on the current situation, we are putting contingency plans in place in the event that upcoming WWE shows are cancelled by government officials, civil authorities and/or local venues.”

Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet is also reporting that the show hasn’t been cancelled:

We will let you know if we hear anything more.
