WWE News: Matt Hardy and Jeff Hardy Offered WWE Contracts

One of the biggest questions over the past few weeks in the wrestling world has been surrounding the status of Matt and Jeff Hardy. Many thought that they would sign with WWE after leaving TNA a few weeks ago, but they swerved everyone and signed with Ring of Honor.

As we have noted prior, Matt and Jeff’s deal with ROH seem to be short-term and non-exclusive which still keeps the possibility alive for a WWE return in the near future.

According to a new report from Pro Wrestling Sheet, Matt and Jeff have been offered contracts from WWE that would bring them back to the company.

The report confirms that they have been offered legitimate contracts from WWE that would secure their return.

It is unclear if that deal includes anything to do with their ‘Broken’ characters. Matt is currently engaged in a lawsuit with Impact Wrestling over the use of the name and gimmick. We will have to wait and see how that plays out if they want to use the gimmicks in WWE.

All signs are pointing to a return of the Hardy Boyz in the next few months if they agree to terms.

Let us know what you think in the comment section below. Would you like to see them return to WWE? How would you use them?

  1. Noooot excited. Admittedly I have never been into TNA. I’m one of those people who could not get past how low budget their show looked compared to WWE. It is totally possible that I would love the broken gimmick if I saw it. But my problem with the Hardys is their apparent necessity for creative control.

It feels like theybooked themselves to be on top of TNA for a couple of years, (filming a whole Impact episode from the Hardy compound, held the titles then booked themselves to win the titles in ROH just to serve this broken journey across the galaxy to win all the belts and now they’ll want to do the same thing in WWE. Can anyone tell me my observations are unfounded?

I can’t wait to see all the people claiming this would be great for WWE because these will be the same people bitching about old guys burying young guys. Jeff is 39, Matt is 43.

If they’re coming in for a Dudley Boyz type run where their job is to put over one of these floundering teams that’s fine. More match variety and available storylines is great. But a championship run just to serve the broken gimmick is the actual slap in the face that everyone claims Goldberg beating Owens for the Universal Title is.

Plus I just don’t trust them to be reliable. This is Jeff who showed up drunk or high at TNA’s biggest show of the year in the main event and couldn’t wrestle.

I hope it turns out great but I am not excited.

    • I hear you… I was not a fan of the ‘Broken’ gimmick initially. however, it did start to see what it could be simply from a creative perspective. I didn’t buy all the teleportation silliness… but I liked the vanguard 1 thing along w/ being traveling champions from promotion to promotion. but if im honest w/ myself, my excitement probably had more to do w/ the young bucks than the hardys.

if WWE would support and nurture the broken gimmick, I think it could work on a bigger stage w/ a bigger production… but it couldn’t be over the top or cheeseball. they would have to keep it more grounded in reality. I think it would have to be a lot of pre-tape stuff.

needless to say, both matt and jeff would have to get in much better shape. they both currently look like giant bags of mushy dog poop.

      • Having never seen any of it in action, and just reading about it online, they sound like a really over the top New Day. I even read an article once that compared the two gimmicks to each other. Match quality is a big concern too and I’m glad you brought it up. Doesn’t matter how over the gimmick is, if they can’t go in the ring it’s not worth it. The Dudleys were well into their twilight when they came back and they were able to put on solid matches. If Matt and Jeff can’t do that I don’t want to see them.

        • you’re right about everything except those who profess new day is like the broken hardy gimmick. new day is comical and light-hearted. broken matt is fictional and almost wizard-like. broken matt (and jeff) possess powers that new day doesn’t.

if anything, broken matt is a light-hearted bray wyatt. and RIGHT NOW… broken matt is a baby face; but initially was a heel to stop his brother.
