WWE News: Shane McMahon Reportedly Made An Interesting Offer To Take Over WWE Creative Years Ago, Tension With Stephanie

Vice Sports recently released an interesting piece that looked behind the scenes of WWE and some of the issues with the company. The article gave a lot of insight into the McMahon family and some of the sibling rivalry between Stephanie and Shane McMahon.

One of the most interesting parts of the article was when it talks about an offer Shane made to Vince McMahon back in 2012.

According to the article’s sources, Shane asked for a surprise meeting at WWE’s production office with Vince and WWE brass (in 2012). Shane brought with him critically acclaimed author: James Frey and they presented an offer to Vince:

Shane wanted to take over WWE creative. Frey and his team would would as consultants for the product.

According to the article, Stephanie McMahon and Triple H were not happy about this. Shane set up the meeting through Kevin Dunn, who reportedly doesn’t get along with Triple H and Stephanie. It also notes that there is real-life tension between Shane and Stephanie based on control of WWE.

The offer was ultimately declined by Vince and we didn’t see Shane on WWE TV until early 2016. The WWE played out some of the real-life tension in storyline between Shane and Stephanie that we saw earlier in the year. Looks like it was a lot more real than fans realized at the time.

Fascinating stuff. You can check the article out here.

Let us know what you think in the comment section below. How much of WWE’s landscape would change if Shane would have been given creative control?

      • im not suggesting they haven’t. but its still vince in the drivers seat and a ton of other people who keep that ball rolling. and because of their notoriety, I bet they’re a lot more ambassadors than anything else.

        • Expect Shane to come back with a new offer for Vince. Vince brought WWE off his dad. And would sell up so why not have Shane come in and buy it.

          • i suspect it’ll stay in the family. whether its shane or stephanie and HHH, or perhaps a joint purchase. I know they can’t afford to buy it on their own. certainly would make sense to partner together and get loaner.

then again, if vince truly remains in charge until his last breathe… the company could simply be left to someone. who knows? anything is possible.
