Apollo Crews defeated Jinder Mahal on this week’s episode of Monday Night RAW in Manchester, England. Crews won the match in just a couple of minutes. WWE’s commentary team put over that Crews beat a former WWE Champion in Jinder.
It turns out that WWE has some new creative plans for Crews.
According to Dave Meltzer on Wrestling Observer Radio (subscribe here), WWE is going to push Crews as RAW’s ‘highlight reel’.
The idea behind this gimmick is that they are going to showcase all of the impressive moves that he can do. Crews is one of the most athletic guys on the WWE roster but hasn’t really been able to connect with the WWE Universe.
It seems like WWE will be referring to him as the “human highlight reel”. This was said on commentary a few times during his match with Jinder. He was also called that on WWE’s website.
