WWE Reportedly Makes A Long-Term Decision About Samoa Joe’s Position In WWE

Samoa Joe has been on the RAW announce team for the past few months. While (most) fans have been enjoying his commentary, many people are still wondering about Joe’s status as an in-ring competitor.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer provided an update on Joe’s current position in WWE. The company has made a decision on Joe’s future.

Meltzer says that Joe is now considered as the permanent replacement for Jerry Lawler as an announcer.

While saying that, when he does get cleared (from his concussion), he could still be used in angles that allow him to wrestle. Here is what Meltzer wrote:

Regarding Samoa Joe, he is still not cleared to return, however he is also now considered the permanent replacement for Lawler as an announcer. What that means if/when he is cleared is that he may have the role where he announces and they can shoot angles for him to wrestle using that (since those kind of angles usually do well). Things could also change if later there are depth issues and they feel the need to have him as a full-time wrestler. Or he could mix the two.
