This weeks episode of Smackdown Live left fans with more questions than answers. AJ Styles defeated Luke Harper to earn his shot at Wrestlemania 33 against Bray Wyatt for the WWE Championship…. Or so he though. Randy Orton would later on in the show turn on Wyatt and tell him that he wants the title.

Is this setting up AJ Styles to potentially get screwed over?
Shane McMahon and Daniel Bryan on Talking Smack spoke about after what happened on Smackdown Live, they still didn’t have an official number one contender.

As many of you know, the rumored plans for Wrestlemania was AJ Styles vs Shane McMahon and Bray Wyatt vs Randy Orton. This weeks episode of Smackdown Live gave fans some hope that AJ would indeed be wrestling for the title at Wrestlemania and not facing Shane.
There are some rumors circulating that this could be the way WWE sets up AJ vs Shane, which would stem from Shane screwing Styles over. Here is how it could happen:
Randy won the Royal Rumble and had an automatic spot at Wrestlemania. Even though he gave up his opportunity a few weeks ago, there is zero chance that he won’t be facing Bray Wyatt at the event. This is a storyline that WWE has been building for months and after he burnt down the Wyatt Family Compound, the story has some real momentum.
AJ Styles could be included in the match, making it a triple-threat. We think that it is much more likely that Shane decides that AJ is OUT of Wrestlemania. He did win the match against Harper fair and square but Shane could bring out the alternate angle of the battle royal (where AJ’s feet clearly hit first) as evidence to why AJ doesn’t deserve a spot in the match.
We also could see a match between Randy and AJ to determine the true number one contender.

As much as AJ Styles fans don’t want it to happen, it is still possible that this scenario happens, setting up the original: AJ vs Shane and Bray vs Randy. We will have to see how it plays out in the next week or so.
