Naomi was able to defeat Alexa Bliss at the Elimination Chamber PPV, winning the Smackdown Women’s Championship in the process. This was the first title victory of the career for Naomi and it was a big moment that was celebrated by many.

Naomi is from Orlando and many fans have questioned why WWE chose to have her win the title now instead of at the big event in her hometown.
The rumored reason why she won the title now is because WWE wants to use her being from Orlando as a promoting tool for the event. As a Orlando resident, she is going to be doing a ton of media events to promote Wrestlemania 33. Now that she has the title, the buzz around the Women’s Champion defending the title in her hometown is only going to increase coverage from local media outlets.

It was rumored that Naomi was going to win the title at Wrestlemania 33 anyways, so WWE decided to use it to their advantage.
A smart marketing ploy by WWE but we can only assume that the reaction for Naomi winning the title in her hometown would have been even more incredible than it was at Elimination Chamber.

Regardless of what happened, we are glad that Naomi was able to achieve her dream. Looking forward to hearing her reaction entering the arena as the Women’s Champion. Should be electric.

I would have waited until the big stage to make the title change because then more people from Orlando would show up and cheer for her, but thats just my opinion.
